Who we are
Knott Digital Ltd ("Knott Digital", "we", "us") is a New Zealand registered company based in Hamilton. We build and manage websites and custom applications for businesses.
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit this website, contact us, or become a client.
What we collect
When you contact us: your name, email, phone number (if you give one), and whatever you choose to tell us in your message.
When you become a client: business name, billing details, domain information, and any content you provide for your site.
When you visit this site: basic analytics data via Google Analytics — pages viewed, rough location (country/region), device type, referrer. No advertising cookies.
Why we collect it
- To reply to you when you get in touch
- To build, host, and support your site or app under our agreement with you
- To bill you and keep records we're legally required to keep
- To understand how the website is used so we can make it better
We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We don't share it with third parties except the processors listed below, which we need to operate.
How long we keep it
While you're a client, for as long as we're providing services. After you leave, we keep billing records for seven years as required by NZ tax law. Contact-form messages from people who don't become clients are deleted after twelve months.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020
You have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct it if it's wrong
- Ask us to delete it (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if we've mishandled your information
Email [email protected] to make any of these requests. We respond within 20 working days, usually much sooner.
Security
We protect your information with HTTPS everywhere, encrypted backups, two-factor authentication on all internal systems, and the principle of least privilege — only Malcolm has routine access to client data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take it seriously.
